    Henry Mancini

Mr. Mancini is one of the truly great film composers. His aspect as an excellent pianist with great taste and a beautiful harmonic concept is sometimes overlooked. Throughout his career he recorded more than 90 albums and won 20 Grammys and 4 Oscars. From the Blake Edwards' movie "10" here is an example of his tasty piano playing. "Don't Call It Love"

Alan Broadbent

I consider Alan Broadbent to be one of the greatest musicians of our times. His skills as an arranger can be appreciated in recordings by Marian McPartland, Scott Hamilton, Natalie Cole and Diana Krall. His piano work has been featured in albums by Natalie Cole, Charlie Haden and Shirley Horn, among others.
His solo on the song Thingin' is a masterpiece. This is jazz piano on its highest level.

Bill Evans: Reflections in D (Duke Ellington)

Bill Evans is one of the most influential pianists in Jazz. We could say that he is the Chopin of Jazz (Both Oscar Peterson and Art Tatum could be considered the Franz Liszt).
This Interpretation is the quintessence of quartal harmony and the result of the integration of the Impressionistic musical language into Jazz piano music.

From the Marian McPartland's Piano Jazz Bill Evans Interview recorded in November 6, 1978 the Duke Ellington's "Reflections in D"

Bud Powell "Reets and I"

"No one could play like Bud; too difficult, too quick, incredible!"

Thelonius Monk

"Bud is a genuine genius" Duke Ellington

"Bud is a genius" Charlie Parker

This composition appears in the album The Amazing Bud Powell vol. 2 with George Duvivier on bass and Art Taylor on drums.

This piano solo is an excellent example of the be-bop vocabulary, the foundation of contemporary jazz piano music.

For the left hand use the “Bud Powell” voicings that basically consist of outlining the chord using the root and third alternating with root and seventh staying within the realm of the octave. For more information you can read chapter 17 "Stride and Bud Powell Voicings" from The Jazz Piano Book by Mark Levine (Seer Music Co.)

Hank Jones "It's Me, O Lord"

This is my transcription of the spiritual "It's me, O Lord" also known as "Standing in The Need of Prayer". This track is part of the Galaxy "Tiptoe Dance" album recorded in Berkeley, CA between June 29, 1977 and January 21, 1978.

Hank Jones is personification of the elegance and sophistication at the piano, a truly great musician.  On May 16, 2010 Mr. Jones was promoted and now he is absent in the body but face to face with the Lord (In the words of Colonel R.B. Thieme)
